Scholarship Opportunities

Members of McKinley Church & Foundation have been extremely generous in their support of Presby Hall residents and projects.

The McKinley Foundation Freshman Scholarship

$1,000 awarded to incoming 2018 freshmen who have financial need, are engaged in civic or volunteer activities (social justice or environmental issues in particular).

Namesake: The McKinley Foundation was named for US Senator William McKinley, a well-known humanitarian and benefactor in Champaign-Urbana and the University of Illinois communities. McKinley Presbyterian Church was built at the height of the Depression and dedicated in 1930. Throughout its 100 plus years, McKinley Foundation, in cooperation with the Church, has sought to live out its inclusive faith and socially conscious convictions through social justice work and human service.

Awarded By: The Board of Directors of the McKinley Foundation at the University of Illinois.

Requirements: Presby Hall resident during the academic year in which the award is made.

The Wert Scholarship

$2,000 awarded to a Presby Hall resident who is either a member or regular attendee of McKinley Presbyterian Church or The McKinley Foundation student ministry activities (1st preference), a member or associated with a Presbyterian church in Champaign-Urbana community (2nd preference), or a member or associated with a Presbyterian church in the Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois (3rd preference).

Namesake: The Wert Scholars Fund is administered by The McKinley Foundation at the University of Illinois and is named for the late Charles A. Wert, a member and elder of the McKinley Presbyterian Church and professor of Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Illinois.

Awarded By: The Wert Scholars Fund via The McKinley Foundation

The Ullman Scholarship

$2,000 awarded to a Presby Hall student who has a financial need, record of civic engagement and academic achievement in the study of music.

Namesake: The Ullman Scholarship is named for the late Rina Ullman of Urbana, Illinois. Ms. Ullman was a faithful member of McKinley Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a choir member and music lover.

Awarded By: The Board of Directors of the McKinley Foundation at the University of Illinois.

Requirements: Presby Hall resident during the academic year in which the award is made.
